How To Choose The Best Video Production Company

Picking the best Video Production company is a simple process. With these tips (Video Genre, Company Niche, Video Strategy) you’ll be on the right track to finding the best Video Production company in your area.

It was 10-til-close when the request came in. My Boss needed a new product-video for an upcoming launch.

She looked me straight in the eyes and said,

”Find the best Video Production Company in Idaho.”

I said nothing. Just sat there nodding my head realizing we were about to create something cool.

If you’re like most people you probably don’t have that information on-hand. I know I didn’t. But after weeks of research, I found the best video company in my area and I picked up a few simple tips along the way.

You may have heard, “Use the right tool for the right job.” It’s solid advice and I believe it applies to Video Production. But when every company uses the same tools:

(Lights, Camera, Action!)

How do you know whom to choose?

In the next few paragraphs I’m going to show you how I solved my Bosses quest, of finding the best Video Production Company in Idaho, and it begins with you, and identifying your video genre.

Video Genre

Let’s start with the basics. Every video you create is a form of communication. Whether it’s a cinematic scene from a short-film or a cell-phone video of your cat, when you watch it alone or show it to someone else, it becomes communication.

Defining your communication is what video genre is all about. It takes your big ideas and makes them specific. It may seem obvious but let’s look at a few popular video genres:

-Corporate video: Training, Business Profiles

-Live video: Weddings, Seminars, Sports

-Product video: E-commerce, Marketing

You get the idea. But It’s important for us to start here because the next two steps are dependent on getting this right. Knowing the type of video you’re creating will dictate which company you hire and to which channels it gets released.

Company Niche

Now find a Video Production Company that specializes in the type of video you want to create. You can use Google with a simple search of “Video Production + your city”.  You can also use sites like LinkedIn and Fiverr to find other video creatives.

The important part, look at the previous work the company has done. Does the quality align with your vision? Do they have work within your video genre? Is this a company you can like and trust?

Look for companies with a Demo Reel on their website. It’s a collage of their best work and often reveals the people and personality behind the company.

Video Strategy

You made the video, now what?  You need a strategy to get your video in front of the right people. Each video type will have a different destination. It can be a link on your email signature, a spot on your website or and ad on Facebook.

There’s hundreds of places online for you to promote your video, but gone-are-the-days where you can upload a video and hope it gets views. So it’s important when choosing a Video Production company they have a plan for success after you click upload.

Picking the best Video Production company is a simple process. Just ask yourself these questions before you start:

-Video Genre: what type of video am I creating?

-Company Niche: does the production company match my vision?

-Video Strategy: what happens after upload?
